Reflection
My journey dealing with stress and anxiety is something that only progressed over my years in high school. It reached its climax during my junior year when I began to have to balance my AP classes and extracurriculars. The events that unraveled led to a series of self-discoveries and eventually to the healing of my own mental illnesses. This journey of interviewing individuals who had the same background as I really increased and impacted my worldview on mental health issues in high pressurized environments.
When it came to my sources, I really looked into the different perspectives that individuals could offer. The MSJ Alumnus and I worked hand in hand on many projects and assignments. Through the past year, we really helped each other out when it came to college apps and dealing with personal experiences. It was really nice to sit down and talk to her about this topic which is extremely personal to the two of us. Having gone through such experiences together, it was really great learning about her personal perspective now as a Mission graduate when we live across the country from each other. Rohini is a high achieving Mission student who seems to have conquered the ability to manage her time and remain calm in stressful situations. It was amazing to see how her well preparedness has kept her sane throughout high school. I am excited to hear about where she goes, but I can be sure that due to her positive life outlook she will turn out extremely successful! Mr.Jan was my AP Computer Science teacher. He is someone I looked up to as my source of inspiration. This stemmed from the fact that he decided to come back to his old high school to teach to help his students deal with stress. His positive and jovial outlook on life really helped me put things into perspective. He was essential to my growth in high school and to hear his story really inspired me to keep doing what I am doing.
